portsnapに不要なportsをダウンロードさせないようにするには

/etc/portsnap.confで不要なportsをREFUSEディレクティブで指定しておけば、portsnapはそのportsをダウンロードしない。

たとえばarabicと指定すれば、アラビア語関連のports、要するに/usr/ports/arabicはその後アップデートされなくなる。また、financeとか指定すれば/usr/ports/financeも同じくアップデートされなくなる。

ただし、portsnap.confの該当部分に書いてあるWARNINGの通り、これをするとportsツリーの一部は最新、一部は古いか存在しない不完全な状態になり、依存の関係で思わぬ問題が発生したりする。
よほどディスクスペースと帯域をケチりたいのでなければ止めたほうがいいし、やるとしても日本語以外の他言語を指定するだけにしておいた方がいいと思う。

ディスクスペースと帯域の節約が必要な一部のマシンでは、/etc/porsnap.confに以下を追加している。

REFUSE arabic chinese french german hebrew hungarian
REFUSE korean polish portuguese russian ukrainian vietnamese

行頭にスペースがあると無視されるので注意。

一応、portsnap.confの該当部分を抜き出し。
問題が起こっても、メーリングリストに質問するのはREFUSEディレクティブを外して試してからだぞ、とか書いてある。
